A superb late 17th century William & Mary oyster-veneered chest on stand, crafted in beautifully figured olive wood and presented in very good condition.
The piece comes in two sections—the chest lifts off the base for ease of movement—and includes its working key.
The top features fine string inlay and a striking oyster-veneered surface, further complemented by cross-banded edges.
The drawers pull smoothly with brass swan neck handles, and the rich olive-wood oyster patterning continues across all sides.
The stand is equally impressive, with well-turned spiral legs joined by shaped stretchers and a lower drawer echoing the same oyster veneers.
